AI DIDN’T KILL THE CV.IT EXPOSED THE BAD ONES.
Job seekers are using AI to write CVs.
Recruiters are using AI to screen them.
HR teams are using AI to speed up hiring.
And somewhere in the middle, everyone is starting to sound exactly the same.
“Results-driven professional.”
“Dynamic team player.”
“Excellent communication skills.”
“Proven track record.”
The problem is no longer whether AI is being used.
The problem is what happens when AI removes the personality, context and evidence that made the candidate worth interviewing in the first place.
A recruiter does not need another polished paragraph.
They need to understand:
What did you actually do?
At what level?
In what environment?
What changed because you were there?
What makes your experience relevant to this role?
That is where good CV writing still matters.
AI can help organise information.
It can improve wording.
It can speed up drafting.
But it cannot automatically know which parts of a 15-year career deserve to lead the page, which achievements are commercially important, or why one role should be positioned differently for a completely different target market.
And HR teams know this too.
The strongest candidates are not necessarily the ones with the most “AI-perfect” CVs.
They are the ones whose CVs make their value clear, specific and believable.
So my view is simple:
Use AI as a tool.
Do not let it become your professional identity.
Your CV should still sound like a real person with real experience, real judgement and real value.
Because the goal is not to impress the algorithm.
The goal is to get through the algorithm and still impress the human on the other side.
